Wildlife Education Centre Volunteer

Uganda – Make a difference on this six-day trip of a lifetime to volunteer with the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre, popularly known as Entebbe Zoo.
Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Victoria in central Entebbe, this is a wonderful opportunity to assist the program with its invaluable work. The zoo cares for animals injured or recovering from poachers and traffickers, with an array of wildlife within its enclosures, including chimpanzees, southern white rhinos, lions, leopards and shoebill storks. Keep an eye out for baby elephants too! We’ll spend a week beside the shores of Lake Victoria, working alongside the people and the animals that make this centre so unique. What better way to gain an in depth understanding of Ugandan wildlife and their conservation efforts than from the people on the front line?

Over the next few days we’ll spend our time volunteering with the keepers of Entebbe Zoo and learning more about caring for some of Uganda’s locally threatened species such as the shoebill stork, chimpanzees and white rhino. You might find yourself undertaking a series of activities from helping to build new facilities, food preparation, animal observation, cleaning holding facilities and enclosures or being a surrogate mother to the sick and injured animals. Whatever you end up doing, you can rest assured it will have a long-lasting impact on the wildlife under your care.
