Today we make our way from Arusha, through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the mighty Serengeti. Nothing can prepare you for the extraordinary landscape of the Serengeti National Park. Its endless plains are teeming with zebra, wildebeest, antelope and elephants. And if you’re a fan of big cats, you’ll love it even more, with more than 50% of Tanzania’s lion population residing within its boundaries. Make sure those cameras are switched on and ready to go! We’ll spend the night camping under the starry African sky. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.

We’ll make an early start on day three for a spectacular dawn game drive. Remember to look up as well as down as you’ll be looking out for lions, cheetahs and leopards! January and February are the birthing season for zebra and wildebeest, so if you spot something small and cute, don’t be surprised! Tonight we’ll spend a second night under the magnificent Serengeti sky. Optional Balloon Safari available: just ask us!

We have time for one more early morning game drive in the Serengeti before we make our way to the rim of Ngorongoro crater. This incredible volcanic crater was formed over three million years ago and was designated as a National Park in 1979. The crater is home to the largest elephants in Tanzania and the only park where you’ll find the black rhino. We’ll visit Ol Duvai Gorge and explore the amazing archaeological finds that expanded our knowledge of human evolution.

Today we descend 600m into the base of the caldera. We’ll spend the day on a breath-taking game drive across the floor of the crater. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a Unesco World Heritage listed site, famous for the diversity of its wildlife and its unique ecology. You’ll never quite forget the experience of standing on the rim or descending down into the caldera to go in search of some of the world’s most fascinating wildlife. In the afternoon we travel to the bustling town of Keratu, located near the edge of the Rift Valley Plateau.

Situated at the base of the towering Gregory Rift Mesa, Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its flamingos, diverse water birds, hippos and tree climbing lions! Today we get to explore the park, before heading through the picturesque countryside to the outskirts of Tarangire National Park.

Among the most striking of all the landscapes in East Africa, the Tarangire National Park is home to an array of magnificent Baobab trees, as well as a host of elephants, zebra and lions, and the mighty Tarangire River. Today we get to explore the many waterways, swamplands and forests of this mighty park before we head back to Arusha for our last evening in this wildlife haven.
