TOUR ITINERARY

On arrival, we’ll pick you up and take you to your accommodation. Enjoy some time to relax before our evening get‐together to chat about our fantastic upcoming adventure through Kenya and Tanzania.

Meals: Dinner

Accommodation: Deluxe permanent tent

Today sees us grab our cameras and dive right into capturing wildlife images. We make our way to Nairobi NP, 7km South of Nairobi, it is a Rhino sanctuary and home to 4 of the big 5 (only missing Elephant). It’s close proximity to the city makes for some amazing backdrops to images.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Deluxe permanent tent

Today we take a drive North (3-3.5 hr) to Ol Pejeta conservancy. Once a Colonial Ranch, Ol Pej oozes old world charm. Ol Pej is home to the big 5 and is also a world renowned Rhino Santuary, making it one of the best places to photograph Rhino.

But there is so much more to OP than rhino. This will be home for 2 nights and our cameras will really start to warm up here. One of the most amazing experiences is watching the wildlife come to drink at night at the floodlit waterhole.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Luxury permanent tent/Lodge

After our 2 nights at Ol Pej, we have a real treat in store for you. Today we drive a little further North to Samburu NP. Here we will spend 3 days photographing in this wonderful National Park. Home to 4 of the big 5 (no rhino here) this is a very different landscape. It has some unique Northern hemisphere Fauna including gerenuk, grevy’s zebra, oryx and northern reticulated giraffe. As well as lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo.

Our home for 3 nights will be the exquisite Elephant Bedroom. Set right on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river, there is plenty of wildlife action right at the lodge. Here you may get to see wild elephant stroll right past you at meals. Oh and who doesn’t enjoy a dip in their own private plunge pool on the balcony of their luxury tent. Yep a great way to unwind, but only after you download the days amazing images.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Accommodation: Superb Luxury Tent (Elephant Bedroom)

On day 8 we say farewell to Samburu and take in one last game drive as we make our way to the airstrip at Samburu for our flight down to the wildlife highlight of East Africa – the Masai Mara. On pickup we will game drive our way to our luxury accomodation for the next 3 nights. Tangulia Mara is built on a hill overlooking the Olotulo-Murt Salt lick by the Mara river, there is an abundance of wildlife to photograph right next to Tangulia

There will be time to relax and settle in before we open up lightroom and discuss furthur the digital workflow and roll our sleeves up in lightroom. This is just an introduction so nothing too heavy. Later in the afternoon we will visit a traditional Masaai Village and get an introduction to the cultural and daily life of the Maasai. Traditionally nomadic pasturalists they are one of the best known ethnic tribes in Africa. We will have an opportunity to take some photojournalistic reportage images as we are introduced to Masaai way of life. Then we may even break out the soft box and strobe to craft some character portraits of the Masaai.

Then it will be 2 solid days photographing in the Masai Mara. This is literally the best place I have ever photographed wildlife and the absolute highlight of any photographic tour to Africa. It is home to the big 5 and the abundance of grass on these plains brings millions of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivours. This in turn provides an abundant food source for huge concentration of carnivores. This will be a very busy couple of days with the camera but a truly unforgettable experience.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Luxury Tent – Tangulia Mara

Today we sadly say goodbye to the Mara. After a hearty ‘Tangulia’ breakfast we will slowly make our way to the airstrip for our flight to Nairobi.

Once back in Nairobi we will relax and unwind perhaps even breakout the laptop for more lightroom editing and discuss what we might want to actually ‘do’ with these thousands and thousands of images we have taken. The options are endless – social media, slideshows, prints, fine books and albums.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Deluxe permanent tent

Today after breakfast we must say farewell to Kenya. There are a couple of options – Home (not my first choice) or another amazing African destination (Yay much better).

If the latter sounds better to you too, why not join the 4 day Gorilla add-on in Uganda. The only thing as good as photographing in the Masai Mara is a trek to photograph the amazing mountain gorillas of Bwindi or Mugahinga NP.

But for those who must return home farewell and happy editing, printing and/or book making now that you have thousands of images to choose from.
