10 Day Morocco Highlights

Morocco is a fascinating Country. At the cross-roads between Africa and Europe, it is a melting pot of culture, religion, architecture, incredible landscapes and medieval history.
This 10-day journey will have you delving into the medinas of Marrakech, exploring the Roman ruins of Volubilis, indulging in authentic Berber hospitality, discovering quaint towns, and wandering through charming villages. This trip through the heart of Morocco is full of breath-taking scenery and hidden gems. From bustling bazaars and the age-old remains of civilizations past, please do join us on this fast-paced adventure to explore many of Morocco’s most spectacular sights.

TOUR ITINERARY

On arrival, we will meet you at Casablanca International Airport and transfer you to your accommodation. There is time to settle in and relax before our get-together this evening where we discuss our exciting Moroccan adventure ahead.
Tonight, we will also enjoy our first delicious Moroccan dinner together!

Accommodation: Hotel, Casablanca

After breakfast we will visit the The Hassan II Mosque. This grand place of worship is the largest in Africa and the pride of the Moroccan people. We transfer to the train station in time to board the Al Boraq. This high-speed rail service will transport us North to Tangier. Next, we journey onto Cap Spartel- where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. We will then turn inland and wind our way through mountains and valleys until we reach the charming town of Chefchaouen.

Located in the Rif Mtns, this stunning town was originally built as a fortress in the 15th Century. It’s known for the striking, blue-washed buildings, and the very peaceful atmosphere. The octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque rises nearby. We enjoy tour of the city before visiting driving the short distance to the Cascades d’Akchour. These are a series of waterfalls set among amazing scenery. Relax in the beauty, sip a peppermint tea or feast on a local tagine while dipping your feet in the fresh clear water.

After breakfast we will depart Chefchaouen and journey on to the imperial city of Meknes. We will also visit some of Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins- Volubilis.

We journey onto the mystical city of Fes in time for dinner.
Fes is a UNESCO world heritage site, and home to the oldest and largest medina in North Africa! Fes was once the capital of Morocco and is still widely viewed as the cultural epicentre of the country.

Fes is the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities and is often referred to as the country’s cultural capital. This magical City is well known for its Fes El Bali walled medina, with medieval Marinid architecture, vibrant souks, and old-world atmosphere. During our guided tour we will see Fes Palace and the great library. The iconic leather tannery is also a sight to behold! We will view the oldest university in the world as we wander narrow, winding labyrinths of alleyways lined with stall after stall of local artisans.

Today we embark on a journey into the high plains between the Middle & High Atlas Mountain ranges. After stopping for lunch in the picturesque town of Midelt, we continue on our way towards the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.
Today we’ll pass many traditional Berber villages- and camels! Next, we’ll visit Khamlia- a little desert village famous for the indigenous Gnawa inhabitants. We’ll also have the chance for a quintessential camel ride, before enjoying an evening camping under the starlit sky, feasting on an authentic Moroccan meal & listening to Berber music.

Accommodation: Mobile Camp (Sahara Desert) 

After witnessing a gorgeous desert sunrise, we set off to Gorges du Dadès in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. The gorge has been carved out by the Dadès River over thousands of years. The area is known for the stunning rock formations and the kasbahs along the gorge. Today you will enjoy one of the most scenic drives in the world as we journey this very high winding road which offers spectacular views with snow-capped mountains on one side and semi-desert on the other. The thrilling drive will simply take your breath away as you observe nature in all its roughness and beauty.

Accommodation: Local Guest House (Riad), Dadès Valley

This morning we will be surrounded by the spectacular views of the High Atlas Mtns, as we continue our journey South.
We will stop just South of Ouarzazat to explore the remarkable, and possibly most iconic of all Morocco’s fortified towns- Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. We have the opportunity to climb up through the winding alleyways to the viewpoint at the top of this beautifully preserved, and truly inspiring, monuments.
We will then continue to the travel mecca of Marrakech. 

Marrakesh is one of the four Imperial Cities of Morocco and is also home to numerous mosques, palaces, and gardens. The medina is a densely packed, walled medieval city dating to the Berber Empire, with maze-like alleys where thriving souks (marketplaces) sell traditional textiles, spices, pottery, leather, jewellery and more. We will take a guided tour to the main
square of Jemaa elFna, including the Koutoubia Mosque.

In the evening, we will enjoy a traditional Marrakech meal before retiring to our nearby accommodation.

Today we can enjoy all that Marrakech has to offer, as well as some indulgences- including a traditional Hamman steam bath, specialty massages and shopping in the souks.

This evening we gather for our final dinner together as a group, and feast on some wonderful Moroccan delicacies.

By the time you retreat to your Riad, I’m sure you will agree that Marrakech has a certain buzz that is unforgettable!

Today completes our journey through this spectacular Northern African country as we say farewell to Morocco. We will transport you to Marrakech Airport in time for your departure.

If you require a transfer to Casablanca Airport instead, please allow an additional 3 hours for the journey.

Alternatively, why not dive further into the many layers of Morocco. Extend your journey to include a daytrip to the Kingdom’s capital of Rabat, or seaside town of Essaouira.

Travel an hour north to the Kingdom’s capital. We’ll stroll the Medina & see Rabat’s major attractions like Hassan Tower, the 12th Century Kasbah Oudaya, Mausoleum of Mohammed V and his son Hassan II and Chellah- an ancient complex of both Roman and medieval ruins.

Located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, this vibrant and charming town is full of maze-like streets and adorned with Portuguese, French & Berber architecture. We will explore the stunning seaside town, and spice-scented lanes, by foot.
